2 officers shot in Seattle, location of gunman unclear

It wasn't clear which officer had which injuries. The male officer was shot in the chin and the rib cage, according to Deputy Police Chief Carmen Best.

Two Seattle Police Officers have been shot and one officer was grazed in the hand by a bullet during a police response to a robbery.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m.: One suspect is now in police custody, Times reports.

The shooting occurred as police officers chased suspects in a convenience store robbery on First Avenue. He's described as a black male with dark complexion, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 250 pounds with a black jacket, glasses, and a Seahawks beanie. One suspect was detained, another was found with "significant injuries" and at the time of writing, a hunt for a third suspect was underway.

The department reported the shooting on its Twitter feed at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, saying the robbery had been reported near the waterfront, several blocks south of Pike Place Market.

The action scheduled for Thursday afternoon is intended as a protest against federal interference with states that have legal pot. Nikolas Schiller , the other DCMJ co-founder, told CNN the giveaway had to end early because the cops took all of the pot.

The officers were taken to Harborview Medical Center, police said. A female suspect struck one of the officers with a bottle and a third suspect opened fire, wounding the officers, police said.

Seattle Police officers are searching for a possible third suspect. Some food items were stolen and the suspect ran from the scene. A female officer, 42, is in satisfactory condition.
