4/20 pot celebrations marked by arrests at US Capitol

DCMJ is the group behind Initiative 71, a 2015 law which legalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal use in DC.

The action scheduled for Thursday afternoon is intended as a protest against federal interference with states that have legal pot.

People walk among various vendor tents at the annual 4/20 marijuana event at Sunset Beach in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada April 20, 2017.

The arrests came on April 20, or 4/20, the unofficial national holiday for backers of marijuana legalization.

In addition, up to six marijuana plants can be grown inside a home. As soon as his fellow activists are released tonight or tomorrow, Schiller says they'll go enjoy this weekend's marijuana festival and prepare.

This was yet another effort in our ongoing quest to educate our legislators on the need to to end the prohibition-industrial-complex and respect the basic rights of those who choose to consume marijuana, a substance safer than now legal products like alcohol or cigarettes.

Oil edges lower as U.S. crude inventories fall less than expected
Gasoline futures lead the losses the energy futures, with May gasoline RBK7, -3.12% down 1.2 cents, or 0.7%, at $1.699 a gallon. The contract, which finished at its lowest level since April 7 on Tuesday , is set to expire at Thursday's settlement.

U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement that they invoked federal law in making the arrests. Upon further look, you'll notice each juice offers options to add "love" or "lots of love" to your order, which means you'll get a special, legal gift of a bag of weed with your delivery.

The 4/20 event, billed as the "1st Annual Joint Session", was at First Street and Constitution Avenue NE, across the street from the U.S. Capitol and down the block from the Supreme Court.

The Trump administration has a different view on the legalization of marijuana. Basically anyone with a valid congressional ID can get free weed. The strongest support for marijuana comes from those under 35 years of age. Perspectives included: a cancer survivor who broke the law by consuming marijuana to mitigate the effects of chemotherapy, a federal staffer who lost his job as a result of a positive drug test, and those who received criminal charges and had their lives put on hold while they had to overcome the onerous penalties imposed by the state for a simple possession charge, among others.

Nikolas Schiller, the other DCMJ co-founder, told CNN the giveaway had to end early because the cops took all of the pot.

Despite the trend, it remains a Schedule 1 drug by federal standards.
