Donald Trump Asks a Good Question

Donald Trump Asks a Good Question

Trump had not released his tax returns during the presidential campaign a year ago and had said that he would release them after they went through audit.

"I did what was an nearly an impossible thing to do for a Republican-easily won the Electoral College!" he tweeted.

As 74 percent of the America public wants to see the president release his returns, something every presidential candidate since the 1970's has been expected to reveal, Democratic lawmakers have ramped up their demands that Trump unveil his tax returns.

During his campaign and after the election victory, the Trump camp repeatedly refused to release Trump's tax returns, saying Trump's tax returns were under audit.

Protesters in Raleigh said they believed Trump's refusal to release his tax returns was a worrying sign.

The Trump tax marches were launched by a single tweet, organizers said.

Today, April 18, is the deadline for filing returns for federal income tax.

Here's the thing, President Donald Trump says, about those nasty protesters demanding to see his tax returns: Whose pocket are they secretly in?

While the president says the public doesn't care, recent polls show 74% of Americans do.

But 71-year-old Ilene Singh said he's wrong.

Dozens of demonstrations took place yesterday, including in Washington DC, New York and south Florida, where protesters marched to the President's Mar-a-Lago resort - where he is now staying. "We'll have to get back to you on that", White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.

At least 20 people were arrested Saturday at a park in Berkley, Calif., when attendees of a pro-Trump and an anti-Trump rally clashed. In Washington, Los Angeles Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) used the tax return rally as an opportunity to renew her calls for Trump's impeachment.

When responding to a question at a newspaper editors' conference in Florida in 1973, Nixon replied: "I welcome this kind of examination, because people have got to know whether or not their president is a crook". In West Palm Beach, some of those marching said they'd taken part in protests nearly every weekend since Trump was sworn in.

But many demonstrators said they hoped Saturday's marches would convince Trump otherwise.

"We'll make a determination over the next couple of months", he said.

Republicans have also rebuffed Democrats' efforts to get the House Ways and Means Committee to act.
