Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez acquitted on double murder

But the former National Football League star had a victory in court today as a jury found him not guilty of murdering two men in a separate 2012 shooting.

Hernandez's lawyers say a former Hernandez friend shot the men over a drug deal.

The jurors were in their sixth day of deliberations. Hernandez was only found guilty on one lesser charge - illegal possession of a firearm.

Hernandez, 27, already is serving a life sentence in the 2013 killing shooting of Oldin Lloyd, who had been dating the sister of Hernandez' fiancee at the time of murder. He's still serving a life sentence for the murder.

The defence made every attempt to discredit Mr Bradley's character as a witness and jury forewoman Lindsey Stringer said in a statement that the jury, which heard 70 witnesses and over 380 exhibits, "based our decision on the evidence presented and the law".

Bradley himself had testified against the former TE, saying Hernandez was the one who fired the shots.

On Friday, convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez returned to a MA court to conclude his latest trial, a case stemming from a July 2012 double homicide in Boston. For that, the judge sentenced him up another "four to five years in prison" to be served apart from his existing sentence.

1st tropical depression of season forms far from land
This is the third consecutive year that a storm has formed before the official start of hurricane season, which begins June 1. The depression was about 730 miles west of the Azores Thursday morning, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.

Hernandez turned to his long-time fiancee Jenkins and mouthed, "I love you". Bradley is serving a five-year prison term in CT for firing shots at a Hartford nightclub in 2014. Had he been convicted of the murders in the first degree, each charge would have carried a life sentence without parole.

"These were two hardworking, humble, Cape Verdean immigrants", Conley said. Bradley was the main witness for the prosecution.

Bradley testified at the trial in exchange for immunity, and is now behind bars for an unrelated shooting incident. Hernandez told Bradley to roll down the SUV's windows and run a red light so they could pull up next to them.

Hernandez had denied killing them men.

Finally, prosecutors pointed to Hernandez's tattoos as confessions of the crimes. According to Bradley, Hernandez was upset with Furtado and de Abreu because one of the two spilled Hernandez's drink at a night club.

Baez previously represented Casey Anthony, who was acquitted in the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
