Melania Trump Hosts White House Easter Egg Roll, Reads to Children

US First Lady Melania Trump saved her husband from a potentially embarrassing breach of protocol over Easter weekend - when the US President forgot to put his hand on his heart for the national anthem.

It's one of the White House's biggest events, with kids in mind, as families attend the 139th White House Easter Egg Roll.

The White House said in the days leading up to the egg roll that it was expecting a crowd of 21,000, per CNN-sizable, though about 14,000 fewer attendees than the final Obama egg roll hosted in 2016. President Trump and his family put their stamp on the Easter Egg Roll. This year's 139th Easter Egg Roll is Trump's first Easter celebration after being hailed as the President of the United States.

The egg-rolling event, which dates to 1878, was smaller this year, down from 35,000 ticket holders last year.

"In fairness to Trump, it wasn't the Russian national anthem", read one tweeted message.

United Nations says watching Palestinian prisoner hunger strike closely
Opinion polls indicate that Barghouti enjoys widespread support in his quest to replace Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas. Barghouti wrote that Israeli prisons have become the "cradle of a lasting movement for Palestinian self-determination".

The president and his family, meanwhile, sat at the decoration workshop tables and helped children compose letters to the troops, along with greeting the guests.

The Trumps and their son also joined children at a table to make cards to send to U.S. service members. A news that delights the former real estate tycoon but also the little boy who already planned to organize parties with his buddies in the official residence of the president.

"We're doing the egg roll hanging out and having a good time", said participant Cullen Gullott.

The Trumps, along with their son Barron, watched the Easter Egg Roll, with the president blowing the opening whistle.

Trump aide Kellyanne Conway and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who once played the role of the Easter Bunny in costume in 2008 during the George W. Bush administration, were popular targets for a crowd seeking selfies.
