Nintendo Switch is the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever

Nintendo Switch is the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever

The good news is that Nintendo has recently announced that come 19th of May, standalone Nintendo Switch docks will be sold in the US.

It's great to see Nintendo is smashing barriers left and right, and this enormous influx of earnings will be re-invested into the company's operational cashflow to ensure more games, content, and experiences feed its new Switch platform.

That said, Breath of the Wild is the fastest selling Nintendo launch game of all time. It's important to note both of those consoles were shipped in November of their respective launch years, while the Switch debuted in the spring. Interestingly enough, Nintendo sold more copies of Breath of the Wild's Switch port than it sold actual Nintendo Switch consoles!

This is not very surprising, as the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is one of the biggest games that is available for the Nintendo Switch at the time of launch and the attach rate between the console and this game is nearly one to one. Previous pack-in games like Super Mario World on the SNES, Tetris on the Game Boy, and Wii Sports on the Wii by definition only sold to 100 percent of console owners during those systems' crucial launch periods. Early reports suggested that 1.5 million Switch copies were sold in its first week.

Superhuman Russell Westbrook Breaks Oscar Robertson Record In Style
Coach Billy Donovan said it'll be up to Westbrook if he wants to rest during one or both of the Thunder's final two games. Memphis, which has secured the seventh seed in the Western Conference playoffs, sat its starters for the fourth quarter.

Both the Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild broke internal sales records during their release month this past March. Nintendo attributes this freaky phenomenon to "people who purchased both a limited edition of the game to collect and a second version to play".

At least according to Nintendo and NPD Group sales numbers, which show the hybrid handheld-home console sold over 906,000 units in its first month. This is the fifth month in a row that the PS4 has led the Xbox One console in sales within the US.

With record-breaking reviews and sales, don't expect enthusiasm for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to wane any time soon. Well, apparently Nintendo still has some surprises for us when we discover the game on April 28th.

It is possible that the bulk of the Switch games will be created for the Nintendo Switch, with games specifically made for the console.
