Nintendo Switch Sells Big-Time In March

This makes the new Zelda game the fastest-selling Nintendo launch title in its 30-year history. Citing numbers from NPD (so we're talking North America here), the Switch sold over 906,000 consoles in March, with Breath of the Wild moving 925,000+ copies for Switch and nearly 460,000 for Wii U-also not a bad number, considering that the (roughly ten million) Wii U owners are mostly Nintendo diehards who were likely to buy a Switch anyway.

That said, Breath of the Wild is the fastest selling Nintendo launch game of all time.

Based on these figures, SuperData projects that Nintendo Switch will have 7.2 million units sold in 2017, which is considerably higher than original forecast (5 millions in 2017). Data regarding digital downloads of games and combined physical/digital life-to-date numbers are from Nintendo's internal sales figures.

Beyond the US, the Switch and the new Zelda game are hits worldwide.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild also saw record-smashing sales across both Wii U and the Switch, and is now recognized as the fastest-selling Zelda game of all time in a one-month period in the United States, with a total of 1.3 million copies sold.

State jobless rate ticks up to 3.6 percent, remains below US
Last month's jobless rate in MI was two-tenths of a percentage point higher than the state's year-ago rate of 4.9 percent. The department is predicting that there will be an increase of 113,000 jobs in the three-year period from 2016 to 2019.

Recently, Nintendo had released a press note saying that the Switch was the fastest seller among the consoles sold by the company. NPD's data accounts only for US sales, but the current global estimate puts March Switch totals at 2.4 million consoles sold. Yellow Joy-Con controllers were also announced and Nintendo Switch docks will be available in stores.

The company also pointed out that March is a "nontraditional month" for a new console release.

That's right, Nintendo had more than a 100 percent attach rate for Zelda on the Switch. Nintendo attributed the unprecedented sales success for Breath of the Wild to fans who purchased two copies of the game... a limited edition to keep sealed and a standard edition to play. Switch's numbers, nevertheless, are great considering its a handheld console. "Nintendo is working to make sure everyone who wants a system is able to buy one, and more systems are continually being shipped".

It out-sold every single prior Nintendo product in their first-month release, including the Wii, and the Gameboy Advance.
