Oracle to Acquire Digital Measurement Firm Moat

Oracle to Acquire Digital Measurement Firm Moat

The deal was signed on April 18, 2017 and its financial terms have not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, the major competitors of Oracle, including Salesforce and Adobe are continuously leveraging the competition by introducing marketing "clouds" of their own in the data, marketing software, and ad-targeting arena.

Moat works with some of the world's largest brands to help measure and track their online ads, including Nestle, Procter & Gamble and Unilever.

The company says Moat will continue to operate as "an independent platform within Oracle Data Cloud", with the Moat team joining Oracle. He continued, "With the Moat acquisition, Oracle Data Cloud now offers brands and publishers a full suite of targeting and measurement solutions to improve the outcome of virtually every type of digital advertising campaign".

Oracle shares closed 0.52 percent higher on Tuesday's regular trading session.

FCC votes to allow some broadcasters to buy more TV stations
The FCC grandfathered in existing station groups that exceeded the cap but said the exception could not be transfered in a sale. The vote was 2-1, with Democratic Commissioner Mignon Clyburn dissenting.

Oracle's latest acquisition joins the list of other recent ones in the realm of marketing technology, which includes the purchase of companies like DataLogix and BlueKai in 2014.

In particular, acquiring Moat will give Oracle access to something called "attention analytics" that typically refers to the tools that help Web sites see which parts of their pages visitors focus on most. According to the official spiel, the combination of Oracle and Moat will connect data to consumer attention for better media experiences and business outcomes. It has provided actionable insights around brand safety, viewability, ad creative and non-human traffic to more than 600 brands, publishers and agency clients.

Oracle noted in its Q&A about the deal that it is reviewing Moat's product roadmap.

"When Oracle approached us about working together, we began to see the huge potential to jointly drive innovation".

Oracle Corp. Tuesday said it has acquired digital advertising measurement firm Moat Inc. for an undisclosed price. "As a result, Oracle should be able to go head-to-head more effectively against enterprise cloud leaders, including IBM", he added.
