Delays on Metro-North New Haven line due to minor derailment

Metro-North riders should expect some delays and platform changes Friday on the New Haven line following a train derailment Thursday in Rye.

Customers were previously advised to travel eastbound to Stamford.

An MTA spokeswoman said the westbound New Haven Line train carrying 185 passengers was approaching the station when five cars went off the tracks. All of the cars remained upright.

Metro-North said the derailment happened at a slow speed and described it as "minor". Four of them, including the train's conductor, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said early reports show the train may have been speeding around a curve.

The train was scheduled to get into Grand Central at 5.42pm, officials said.
