HTC U 11 Hands-On Video Appears Online a Day Before Official Announcement

HTC launched its flagship smartphone U11 today and the same has been put up for pre-order on the company's official online store at a price of $649.

The new HTC U11 will be available in Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black, Ice White, and Solar Red color options and should be hitting most of the markets by the end of May, with a price set at USA $649/€749/£649. At the start of 2017, they released the HTC U Ultra, the first flagship phone for the year and now, they are back with another flagship phone the, HTC U11.

What makes the HTC U11 special is the new Edge Sense, a feature that will, according to HTC, bring an entirely new way to interact with the smartphone. On the other hand, a long squeeze can be configured to launch the Google voice assistant or toggle the flashlight on and off.

HTC also plans to launch a tool through which one can customize the squeeze function. Interestingly, the handset will be listening for both "OK Google", and "Alexa", as the handset will be able to work with both voice assistants at the same time. For a more professional touch, the HTC U11 also lets users shoot photos in RAW format.

In terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. There's also the usual array of NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi support as well as a fingerprint sensor, light sensor, proximity sensor, magnetic sensor, and gyroscope.

The smartphone comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of ROM based on the variant one may purchase. The phone has 64GB of built-in storage, but this can be increased up to 2TB with a microSD card. The U11 costs £649 in the United Kingdom and is expected to ship on June 1. Starting off with the camera, HTC has announced that the U11's rear camera has received the highest DxOMark rating ever. Meanwhile its 16MP BSI sensor equipped f/2.0 selfie camera has various modes you will enjoy fiddling with such as "live make-up". The latter sees data from the previous and next frames being used to deliver better quality video. The smartphone is running on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the HTC Sense UI on top of it.

The handset will also feature HTC's BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition sound technology, and USonic with Active Noise Cancellation.
