Mazzarri disappointed with Watford's mentality

Watford can not be relegated, but has lost its last five games to drop to 16th place in the 20-team league.

"After the board discussed with Walter Mazzarri the club's future goals and aspirations, it was decided he will be stepping down from his position as the club's head coach after the final game of the 2016/17 season", Watford chairman Scott Duxbury said in a short statement.

Walter Mazzarri has fired a parting shot at Watford ahead of his impending exit, saying they could not match the ambition or mentality of his previous clubs.

The Watford board were growing serious concerns over the relationship with Mazzarri and his players.

Inflation at highest level in four years
Consumer price inflation (CPI) saw an overall slip of 2.99 per cent in April this year compared to 3.89 per cent in March. "Fuels & lubricants for personal transport equipment accounted for 7.8% of the CPI weights", the department said.

A win for Manchester City will mean that they they will finish third and get automatic qualification to the Champions League for next season. "In addition, we have been able to beat hard teams like Arsenal, Manchester United or Everton. Watford were able to face down sides that were technically far superior to us because we did important tactical work and were organized", he continued.

"Unfortunately, when all was going well and we were in seventh place in the table, we had this incredible glut of injuries". There was a point where half of the squad was injured.

Such barbs are all the more ironic given some of the quality of football served up by Mazzarri's Watford this season, including some horrendously unambitious 4-1-4-1 set-ups from the Italian.

The 55-year-old was hugely unpopular with the players and the staff, who couldn't get to grips with his methods, on and off the pitch. If nothing came up that interested me, I wouldn't mind having some time off. I knew why he had to go out. There were some games I did not even know who to put on the pitch.
