Mourinho: Man United Don't Want To Play EPL Games

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stated he had no choice but to focus on the Europa League because of injuries, after this weekend's defeat against Tottenham.

"When people say we gamble, we didn't gamble, we didn't choose the Europa League - we had to do it".

And while the Portuguese coach claimed he was "happy" with his players' individual performances, he made an early exit from his media commitments in an interview with Sky Sports after Sunday's game. We had to do it. "What I want from the players is a positive attitude, good team spirit and the understanding that some guys have to sacrifice themselves for the good of others", he told reporters. It's as simple as that.

"The ones that needed to play 90 minutes got to play, we got no injuries".

He added, "These last five matches of the season, four very hard matches away from home and we managed with this situation at least to keep some balance, to fight for results and to give a positive image of dignity.

I don't want to think about next season - I want to think about the final we have to play in".

French President Macron talks to Putin, faces media uproar
Saturday's edition of weekly news magazine Der Spiegel featured a cover picture of Macron with the headline "expensive friend". Any reforms would likely still have to wait until after September, when the German leader faces re-election.

It means that the only chance United have of making Europe's elite competition next season will be through winning the Europa League, the final of which they will contest against Ajax next week. "So if we can win a third title, or as you like to say, a second title, if we can do that it would be magnificent for us".

"Nobody can play two big competitions with 15 players and this is what we have at the time".

"But if you look at the history of this club when they've been successful, they had three or four top strikers who have rotated". I can not put four or five other kids all together in the fire; I can not do that to the kids. I can not lose 5-0 or 6-0.

He replied: "To be honest I think in the Premier League lately the results are not the best - we lost at Arsenal ending that unbeatable run we drew at home to Swansea".

"Really disappointed because Chelsea in the end they won the Premier League". "Try to understand who can give me a little bit more for the final. The facilities on the training ground and the stadium will put the team and the club at the last level".
