No information from Pakistan on Kulbhushan Jadhav's condition, says MEA

No information from Pakistan on Kulbhushan Jadhav's condition, says MEA

Pakistan, which announced the sentence on Jadhav on April 10, claims its security forces arrested him from its restive Balochistan province on March 3 past year after he reportedly entered from Iran. In this connection, they drew attention to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's statement on Thursday that India would leave no stone unturned to save Jadhav, who has been framed by the military establishment in Pakistan on concocted charges.

The senior lawyer said that Pakistan had attended the hearing with highest respect for the global court of justice despite the fact that it could abstain from the proceedings.

Leaders from the opposition criticised the government as ICJ ruled in the favour of India.

Leader of the Pakistani legal team Khawar Qureshi has also come under sharp attack for not being able to even utilise the 90 minutes at his disposal for presenting the country's case in all its dimensions at the ICJ. He said the ICJ decision was an outcome of the Sharif-Jindal talks.

Mehmood asked why the government gave the task to a lawyer who had never argued a case independently before the ICJ and what compelled the government to send a first year associate from Attorney General's office instead of AG himself to the ICJ.

The Hague-based ICJ heard the two sides on Monday where Pakistan had challenged the jurisdiction of the court but in its decision, the court prime facie exercised the jurisdiction and accepted Indian pleas unanimously.

U.S. summons Turkey envoy for embassy brawl
At one point, Turkish Ambassador to Washington Serdar Kilic appears and shouts at one of the police officers. Cavusoglu said Trump's administration seems more understanding about Turkey's security concerns.

The UN's highest judicial body also asked Pakistan to take "all measures" to ensure that Jadhav, sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court for alleged espionage, was not executed till the court had delivered its final verdict on the issue.

"Pakistan's security is so important and we have to maintain our fundamental sovereign right", he said.

Speaking to Geo News, Qureshi said unfortunately politicians had failed to refrain themselves from doing political point-scoring over the issue.

The minister said the "Indian spy" was convicted after fulfilling all necessary legal procedures and any decision on the matter will be taken keeping in view national security.

Pakistan alleged that the former Indian Navy officer was involved in spying and terror activities in Balochistan.
