Tom Hardy Will Play VENOM For Director Ruben Fleischer

Tom Hardy Will Play VENOM For Director Ruben Fleischer

The Venom role will mark Hardy's second time playing a villain in a superhero flick.

They also signed Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less) to direct the Spider-Man spin-off.

There'd been rumblings that Sony wanted to make a Venom solo film, and the studio has locked in a major star to take on the iconic Spider-Man baddie.

Bradford Hornsby is an editor, music writer, web producer, and pop culture blogger for CBS stations in the San Francisco Bay Area. He did after all pretty much knock it out of the park the one time he ventured into the comic book genre- when he portrayed Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

Ivanka Trump to take part in presidential trip
That's an echo of Trump's predecessor Barack Obama, who addressed Muslims in Cairo in his first major speech on foreign soil. While some Middle East leaders will likely greet Trump warmly, he could receive a far cooler reception in Europe.

Hardy also professes fandom for the character, tweeting a shot of himself with a Venom shirt shortly after the exciting announcement. Sony Pictures posted a picture of the actor wearing a Venom shirt on Friday that read: "Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony's Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 - production starts this fall".

Sony has since confirmed via Twitter that Hardy has been secured for the role.

Eddie Brock was originally introduced to the Spider-Man universe as a journalist who exposes a serial killer's identity, only to find out he exposed the wrong man when Spider-Man captures the real killer. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal are in place to produce the film. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner have been tapped to write the script. Venom previously appeared on the big screen, played by Topher Grace in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. No one knows if these villain films will crossover, or just tell one-off comic book stories; what is nearly certain, however, is that Spider-Man won't be part of them. Although one of their previous credits includes the so-so Amazing Spider-Man 2, they also worked on the screenplay for High Fidelity, Con-Air and TV series such as Lost and Alias.
