Tony Blair: Turn Brexit against Conservatives

Tony Blair, the most successful leader in Labour history who led the party to three successive election wins, sees Theresa May returning as the prime minister after the June 8 election and refuses to endorse party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

A national survey by BMG Research found 54% of those asked wanted a head-to-head TV debate of party leaders in the run up to the election on June 8, with 25% against and 21% saying they didn't know.

ICM interviewed 2,024 adults between April 21 and 24.

Starmer said the party "genuinely accepts the outcome of the referendum" - a concession that may drive those who want to reverse course into the arms of the more pro-EU Liberal Democrats.

Labour MP Chuka Umunna has also made it clear that he thinks the "blank cheque" could work as an election message for Labour.

Labour's Brexit spokesman Keir Starmer said that, if elected, his party would guarantee EU nationals living Britain the right to remain in the United Kingdom after the split, and would be open to retaining the benefits of the EU's single market and customs union.

He said: "The four nations that make up our great country have rarely been more divided due to the damaging and divisive policies of this Conservative government but where Theresa May divides, Labour will unite our four nations".

Movie filmed in Cincinnati up for highest award at Cannes
The Festival de Cannes is aware of the anxiety aroused by the absence of the release in theaters of those films in France. Festival organisers tried to negotiate a compromise, with a "limited release" of the movies in France mooted.

Sir Keir said European Union nationals would have their right to remain in the United Kingdom guaranteed on day one of Jeremy Corbyn taking power, and Mr Corbyn would then "seek" reciprocal measures for Britons living in the rest of the bloc.

"Both the Prime Minister and leader of the Opposition are running scared of the TV debates", Green party co-leader Caroline Lucas said.

Starmer laid out Labour's Brexit plan to retain "the benefits of the single market, " focus on the economy, and "fresh negotiating priorities that reflect Labour values". Jeremy Corbyn himself has said he was a 200-1 outsider for the Labour leadership in 2015 and look where that one went. "Theresa May has said that no deal is better than a bad deal".

United Kingdom opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said Sunday that he may suspend British airstrikes on Syria if he is elected prime minister in the country's election of June 8.

She accused rival political parties of seeking to disrupt Britain's Brexit negotiations, "even as 27 other European countries line up to oppose us".

The UK could relinquish its right to cut post-Brexit global trade deals if it gets a good withdrawal agreement with the EU, Labour has suggested.
