British PM Theresa May To Meet Fire Survivors In Downing Street Residence

Many residents were trapped, forcing some on higher floors to jump to their deaths rather than face the flames or throw their children to bystanders below.

They demanded justice for the victims and claimed Wednesday's fatal blaze was due to negligence, with many citing the new cladding put on the 1974 concrete tower. It includes 30 deaths that already have been confirmed, and reports of people who are missing and presumed to have been killed.

Cundy added that it will take weeks or longer to recover and identify all the dead in the housing block that was devastated.

"Sadly, at this time there are 58 people who we have been told were in the Grenfell Tower on the night that are missing".

Concerned about how to rescue imperiled residents, a third says: "I can see people jumping out the window". British health authorities say that 19 fire survivors are still being treated at London hospitals, and 10 of them remain in critical condition.

"We've worked tirelessly to confirm the number of people who we believe were in the tower on the night and, at this time we can not assume they are safe and well", he said.

He told BBC One's Andrew Marr Show: "My understanding is the cladding in question, this flammable cladding which is banned in Europe and the USA, is also banned here".

A second protest began later at Britain's Home Office, which oversees fire prevention and policing nationally.

The attempt to quell the growing anger over her response to the fire comes as May is under unprecedented pressure following her party's loss of its parliamentary majority last week in the country's general election.

Cavaliers vs. Warriors, Game 3
Broke the record of 14 straight postseason wins held by the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, who did it twice. Including the loss in Game 3 , Cleveland is 3-7 SU and ATS in its last 10 games as a home underdog.

Corbyn told ITV's "Peston on Sunday" that the local council, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, was failing to provide effective help for people made homeless by the fire - despite being the wealthiest local authority in the country.

Mr Kempthorne said: "We were making as much noise as we could outside to wake people up, but we woke them up to die".

The fire forced residents to flee through black smoke down the single stairwell, jump out of windows or even drop their children from the 120-apartment building.

The Prime Minister, who "welled up" after hearing harrowing accounts from people caught up in the deadly fire, said there had been "huge frustrations" on the ground as people struggled to find information.

Her Majesty said she was "profoundly struck" by people's willingness to "offer comfort and support" to victims of the fire in west London and three recent terror attacks on United Kingdom soil. "It becomes hard to shelter-in-place when you have no engineered fire protection systems within a building".

Cundy says the new number may change as investigation continues. "If more funding is required, it will be provided", May said, while more than 1,000 protesters rallied outside her residence Saturday.

May, who has been accused of showing a lack of empathy towards the Grenfall survivors, said she was taking personal responsibility for the public inquiry into the disaster.

But Hammond said it was up to the public inquiry to determine whether the retrofitting of sprinklers to buildings was necessary to improve fire safety.

It said: "We are devastated by this tragedy".
