CNN journalists resign over retracted story

CNN journalists resign over retracted story

The story, published last Thursday, said Congress was investigating hedge fund manager Anthony Scaramucci's ties to a Russian investment fund.

Donald Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to attack CNN following the network's retraction of a story about one of the president's former staffers, which led to the resignation of three of its reporters. After being contacted by a reporter for BuzzFeed, CNN posted an editor's note retracting the story, saying it did not meet the network's editorial standards, and it apologized to Scaramucci.

"Wow, CNN had to retract big story on 'Russia, ' with three employees forced to resign".

Thomas Frank, who wrote the piece, Eric Lichtblau, an editor in the investigative unit, and Lex Haris, an editor at CNN since 2001 who oversaw the unit, are all departing following a management review of the story.

On Tuesday morning, the self-proclaimed conservative "guerrilla journalist" James O'Keefe released an undercover video purporting to show CNN producer John Bonifield describing Trump-Russia stories on the network as ratings-driven.

Three CNN journalists resigned following a retracted report on the Senate's Russian Federation investigation. "There are multiple other instances where that outlet that you referenced has been repeatedly wrong and had to point that out or be corrected", Sanders said of CNN.

Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted that "they caught Fake News CNN cold".

US top court backs church in major religious rights case
If the First Amendment didn't have a clear prohibition of church-state separation, the majority's argument might have some merit. Religious liberty advocates hailed the decision as a victory for the government neutrality on religious matters.

The White House said Tuesday that it disagrees with all stories that claim President Donald Trump colluded with Russian Federation "in any capacity".

President Trump himself, however, offered a more gloating response. Scaramucci contacted CNN executives to dispute the story and said he was considering legal action, according to a person familiar with his conversations who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The resignations are a sign of the stakes for CNN.

"I think, if it's accurate, it's a disgrace to all of media and to all of journalism", Sanders said. CNN officially retracted the story June 23 and issued a formal apology to Anthony Scaramucci, the subject of the story.

He also had an opinion on CNN chief executive Jeff Zucker.

The network has not publicly disclosed any details about why it retracted the story.

But the mea culpa did not stop Trump and his supporters from seizing on the mistake, condemning CNN and claiming it as evidence that other major news organizations were conspiring against the administration.
