Feds looking into Bernie Sanders, wife over real estate deal

Sen. Bernie Sanders and his wife have hired defense attorneys amid an Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into a loan the senator's wife procured for Burlington College while she was school president, according to news reports.

Burlington College closed in May 2016 after failing accreditation requirements and becoming bankrupt, Politico reports.

Sen. Bernie Sanders said Thursday he agreed with Democratic congressman Tim Ryan's claim that the Democratic brand is worse than President Donald Trump's in some parts of the country. Sanders' office had exerted "improper pressure" on People's United Bank to approve a $6.7 million, tax-exempt loan for the college.

According to Politico Magazine, which originally reported on the Sanders's hired defense, prosecutors may also be investigating allegations that Sen. The networks have yawned at the news that Sanders and his wife Jane are being targeted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for possibly inappropriately urging a bank to approve a loan of Mrs. Sanders, then the Prresident of a Vermont college.

Now, President Donald Trump's Justice Department is handling an investigation that will proceed at the discretion of a USA attorney of Vermont that Trump has yet to appoint. Toensing is famous for launching attacks on Democrats in the state, including the former Governor-he even tried to nail Bernie Sanders on a bogus campaign finance charge in 2016, and his mom was one of the Benghazi power players-but this is frivolous even by his standards, which we'll see in a moment.

Evinger is a current champion in the all-female fight promotion Invicta FC, but this matchup figures to be a daunting challenge. That opened the door for the UFC to sign Anderson, who has fought for Invicta since 2015 and also holds a title there.

Sanders' adviser Jeff Weaver told CBS that it's flat-out false that Bernie lobbied for the loan and stated that "the loan was approved by the financial board at the college".

A woman listed as a $1 million pledged donor in the loan document that Sanders signed said she was interviewed by an investigator with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.in April. Jane Sanders, Bernie Sanders' wife, took over the college with big plans for expanding the campus and bringing in more students. "I think the American people in many cases are seeing themselves working longer hours for lower wages, they're anxious about their kids not being able to go to college, they're anxious about what's going to happen to them when they're retiring". Sanders hired supporter Rich Cassidy to represent him, while Washington defense attorney Larry Robbins has been retained for his wife.

"My only hope is for a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation", Mr. Toensing added. Sanders has called all of the allegations "nonsense".

In January 2016, Toensing reportedly passed this information onto the USA attorney for Vermont, with a follow-up letter to federal investigators in March. Jaffe, or some editor, made a decision to title his article "Jane Sanders Lawyers Up", as though hiring a lawyer is an implication of guilt.
