Gingrich: Somebody probably going to jail over Russian Federation investigation

Gingrich: Somebody probably going to jail over Russian Federation investigation

For Newt's third, more visibly desperate, act, the one-time leader of the Republican party's new strategy appears to be saying outlandish, often incoherent things diametrically opposed to what he's said previously in an effort to support Donald Trump.

When former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich went into the belly of the beast on Tuesday to promote his new book "Understanding Trump" and do a little back and forth with the hens on ABC's "The View", he likely expected a logical contradiction or two. Just hours after the shooting Wednesday that sent House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others to the hospital with serious injuries, Gingrich was among the first blaming the "left" writ large for a fomenting the violence that led to this specific shooting and tying that specifically to frustration with Trump.

He also advised Trump to take a break from tweeting his thoughts about the investigation and post "positive tweets" on his account.

"Well, I think it partly depends on the leadership", Gingrich said.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", Trump's attorney said about the reports in a statement.

When ABC News reporter Martha Raddatz asked Gingrich if he believed Rosenstein should join Attorney General Jeff Sessions in recusing himself from the Russian Federation probe, Gingrich said, "No". Noting that Trump is "infuriated" by all this "Russian bologna", Gingrich also rebuked Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for appointing special counsel Robert Mueller.

Koepka's trip around the world leads to major title at home
Brooks Koepka was holding steady in buffeting winds, powering to a one-shot lead in the final round of the U.S. He hit a good putt on No. 2 that got caught the left edge of the cup and spun out, and settled for bogey.

Gingrich said he has cautioned many in the Trump administration about the seriousness of the current investigations.

Gingrich referred to a Wednesday Washington Post story alleging that Mueller was expanding the Russian Federation probe to include investigation Trump for potential obstruction of justice following his firing of Comey.

"It horrifies liberals. I think he will be there for 8 years". And now I get an independent counsel.

Gingrich on Friday said Mueller had hired too many "high-powered" lawyers to go home "without a scalp".

"Mueller is now clearly the tip of the deep state spear aimed at destroying or at a minimum undermining and crippling the Trump presidency", Gingrich said on Twitter Thursday.
