Ivanka Trump expresses solidarity over London mosque attack

The Metropolitan Police Service, already stretched by investigations of the earlier attacks and a high-rise apartment fire that killed at least 79 people, said it was putting extra patrols on the streets to protect the public.

Algeria on Monday strongly condemned the "hateful" terrorist attack that targeted Muslims near Finsbury Park mosque in northern London in Britain.

Locals held onto the Singapore-born suspect until he was detained by police and later arrested on charges of "the commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism including murder and attempted murder".

May attempted to counter that feeling in her speech, declaring that police arrived at the scene within one minute, and that a terror attack was declared in eight minutes.

She said: "It's a awful, bad shock".

Five residents identified images of the man being arrested as their neighbour, Osborne, who according to reports is originally from Somerset.

"As a community it is important to show that we stand together and that we will not be bowed by this attack or the others we have seen in Manchester and London in recent weeks".

"Local and senior police officers regularly meet with faith leaders and will continue to do so following this attack to hear local concerns and provide reassurance to communities".

Iran fires missiles at militant groups in eastern Syria
The missile attack on Syria was Iran's first strike outside its own territory in almost 30 years, the Times of Israel reported . A Guard statement carried on its website said many "terrorists" were killed and their weapons had been destroyed in the strike.

News said several people were hurt. "I just can't believe it".

Whether or not the incident was an intentional act of violence against the Muslim community has yet to be known.

Another witness Yann Bouhllissa, 38, said he had been tending an old man who had suffered a heart attack when the van was driven at them. "And on this day, he will tell me his story and I will tell him mine", she later posted on Facebook.

One elderly man, who had collapsed moments before the van appeared, was pronounced dead at the scene, although police have not yet confirmed whether he died as a result of the attack.

"We found that a group of people quickly started to collect around him. and some tried to hit him either with kicks or punches".

"We sent over 60 medics to the scene, including ambulance crews, advance paramedics and specialist responses teams and an advance trauma team from London's Air Ambulance", said the service's Deputy Director of Operations Kevin Bate.

On June 3, Islamic extremists used a vehicle and then knives to kill eight people and wound dozens of others on London Bridge and in the popular Borough Market area.

In March, a man plowed a rented SUV into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, killing four people before stabbing a police officer outside Parliament. In addition to the attackers, seven people are killed and dozens of others wounded.
