In honor of the 90th Scripps National Spelling Bee, which takes place this week in Washington, D.C., Google Trends tweeted a map of "America's Most Misspelled Words".

Macey Stancato, victor of The Vindicator's 84th Regional Spelling Bee, was eliminated Wednesday after incorrectly spelling the word "neurasthenic". Three other former top-10 spellers were eliminated.

Medina's Owen Kovalik and Mansfield's Maggie Sheridan are among the spellers who will get a chance to win $40,000 and a huge trophy.

No more than 50 spellers can advance to the finals.

There were no other spellers among the field of 291 younger than 8 years old, and the majority of the competitors are six to eight years older than Fuller.

Fuller, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was just five years old when she qualified for the bee in March. The victor will receive $40,000 cash, trips to NY and Hollywood and more.

The finals continue throughout the day and a victor will be crowned in the evening.

New this year, a tiebreaker written test with 12 words and 12 vocabulary questions will be given to the finalists left standing Thursday evening at 6 p.m.

One of the finalists is from right here in the Queen City.

Pawlicki misspelled the word “desman” a small, semiaquatic European mammal related to the mole, with a long tubular muzzle and webbed toes.
