President Trump likely to reveal this week whether secret tapes exist

In the first on-camera White House press briefing in over a week press secretary Sean Spicer responded to a question about Russian hacking in the 2016 election with an eyebrow-raising claim.

It's also being reported that Sean Spicer may be replaced by one or more press secretaries given President Trump's extremely short attention span and temper. We've been meeting with potential people that may be of service to this administration. He has dramatically cut back on the number of press briefings he's conducted and the White House has been looking to add to the communications team as part of a broader reshuffling.

"I am right here", a smiling Spicer said.

However, when Spicer was missing from the White House press briefings for a long time in May, and deputy press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, covered for him, she discovered how reporters missed Spicer. The people spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss internal deliberations before a final decision is made.

From what my White House sources tell me you were never under serious consideration....

The Trump administration has frustrated White House reporters by also restricting the use of audio and video during the briefings.

Reps. Mike Conaway, a Texas Republican, and Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, issued a brief statement after they met with Mueller late Tuesday. "The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director said that without a doubt, the Russians -" the reporter said.

The White House has generally only used that excuse on days that the president has held a press conference or delivered a major speech.

"Your whole job is speaking for the administration!" the host exclaimed.

"It's no secret we've had a couple vacancies, including our communications director who has been gone for a while", Spicer said.

Going through the various rumors about Spicer's possible exit and replacements, Colbert was amused that one possibility is the job will be filled by multiple candidates rotating in order to avoid Trump getting angry or bored with the person in the position.

Former FBI Director James Comey testified earlier this month that Trump never asked him about Russia's efforts to influence the 2016 election.
