Sarfraz hopes Champions Trophy win will bring global cricket to Pak

Sarfraz hopes Champions Trophy win will bring global cricket to Pak

Pakistan has won their first ever Champions Trophy title, thrashing India by 180 runs.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi said that the team's win against India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 will be one that "Pakistan fans will remember for long".

Victorious Pakistan players dominate the team with their captain Sarfraz Ahmed named captain of the side.

The Indian captain admitted that the rookie left-hander's approach did upset the rhythm of his bowlers after he got a reprieve off a Jasprit Bumrah no-ball.

The turnaround began when Lady Luck shined down on Pakistan and the green-shirts were able to secure a win against South Africa through the DL method.

Amir, once vilified for his role in the 2010 Pakistan spot-fixing scandal which led to him serving a prison term in the United Kingdom, was at his brilliant best when he produced a devastating opening spell.

The four Pakistanis included left-handed opening batsman Fakhar Zaman, pace duo of Junaid Khan and Hasan Ali besides Sarfraz, who also doubles up as the wicketkeeper.

Greig Laidlaw supports Gatland's addition of six new Lions
Well, we saw how dominant the Lions were in the constant rain and slippery conditions in Rotorua against the New Zealand Maori. England coach Eddie Jones wasn't impressed, and Lions great Ian McGeechan said, "It's hard to justify geography".

In an early tweet, he said: "All the players of Indian team should be banned by govt from playing cricket coz they have sold themselves n pride of India".

A youngster by the name of Fakhar Zaman batted as if he were in bylanes of Karachi against club bowlers and his century on the big stage just destroyed the Indians - mentally and in the score sheet too.

On Zaman, he said: "He is a great impact player, in his first ICC event, he played like a champion, he can be a great player for Pakistan".

The former captains were of the view that success in the Champions Trophy widely speaks about the rise of cricket in Pakistan despite the fact that foreign teams are not visiting the country for nearly one decade. Shadab Khan, the 18-year-old legspinner, has just four wickets in the tournament, but two of them - Yuvraj Singh in the final and Joe Root in the semifinal - were both crucial in the larger scheme of things. But the International Cricket Council are planning to send a World XI to play in Pakistan in September.

Kohli's dismissal for five following a golden run in the tournament prompted gloom among the India supporters. "We will learn from our mistakes".

"But you have to accept that the other team has outplayed you and they've shown better skill than you, they've shown better composure in pressure situations than you".
