In yet another horrific incident in the National Capital Region, a woman was kidnapped from Haryana's Sohna town near Gurugram and was gang-raped in a moving vehicle for hours by three men before they threw her out in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. A female passerby noticed the woman lying on the roadside on Tuesday morning and informed police.

Kumar said there are certain discrepancies in the statements given by the woman and the police is now working to establish their veracity.

The woman was picked up from Sohna in Gurgaon at 8.45 pm yesterday and flung out of the Swift auto several hours later, police said.

The Noida police reached the spot and also informed their counterparts in Gurgaon.

The woman, a resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan had come to meet a relative in Sohna last week. One of our teams have been rushed to the spot in Haryana's Sohna, said Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Love Kumar. The woman was attacked at around 2 AM when she was returning from Delhi to her residence in Sector-17 in Gurgaon. An investigation has been launched by the police to identify and nab the accused. No FIR has been lodged so far.

The incidents underscore that women continue to vulnerable in the region, more than four years after the Dec 16, 2012 gangrape and murder of physiotherapy intern Jyoti Pandey.

On 29 May, Gurugram witnessed another atrocity when a woman was gangraped and her child murdered.

The incident had occurred when the young woman left her accommodation in Bas Khusla village at Manesar after having a tiff with her husband and neighbour.
