Arsenal boss Wenger attempts to convince star to stay via text

Alexis Sanchez has given the clearest indication yet that he wants to leave Arsenal this summer.

"The decision does not depend on me, I have to wait for Arsenal".

"I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes", Wenger said.

'I want to play the Champions League, ' Sanchez told Emol when quizzed over his future at a football tournament in Chile. "It is something that I have dreamed about it since I was little".

Wenger revealed that Sanchez has left him convinced he will not leave the Emirates this summer, despite refusing to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

Sanchez had the chance to shut down rumours of him wanting to leave the Gunners, but failed to do so.

Arsene Wenger says he has communicated with Alexis Sanchez via SMS regarding his future at Arsenal.

'For now I am at Arsenal and I finish my contract in one more year'.

"I have spoken through text and it was very positive. There's not a lot to resolve at the moment with the player".

Sanchez, 28, is on holiday after playing in the Confederations Cup while Arsenal are on pre-season tour in Australia. "My thoughts are always positive".

Sanchez will team up with the Arsenal squad later this month ahead of the Community Shield against Chelsea in August.
