Beyonce named highest earning artist of 2016

Beyoncé had the kind of money making year in 2016 that'd be considered irreplaceable.

Her husband Jay-Z did not make the list this year as he did not tour or release new music, but his new album 4:44 and it's supporting tour will likely make him one of 2017's top earners.

No shame in Drake's touring haul - $13.6 million in road receipts is pretty considerable.

By winning the top-earning position on the list, Beyonce has left other musical biggies like Guns N' Roses, Bruce Springsteen, Drake, Adele, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Rihanna, far behind.

The name of his United Kingdom concert was "Netru Indru Naalai", which in English means "yesterday, today, tomorrow". There were some songs sung in Hindi like "Humma Humma", "Enna Sona" "Dil Se Re" and "Dil Hai Chota Sa ".

In 2015, when Springsteen played only a handful of shows, he did not crack Billboard's Top 50.

Drake jumped 32 spots from his position a year ago to end up as the fourth biggest earner with $37.3 million, over $18 million of that coming from his albums being played on streaming services. He made most of that money from his massive The River Tour 2016 with his E Street Band, from which earned more than $40 million. The majority of that figure comes from streaming sales, at $18.1 million.

According to Billboard, Queen B has topped their list of top earning performers in the music industry from 2016, bringing in a whopping $62.1 million. However, the group pulled in a staggering $11.5 million in sales royalties - tops among all our 2016 earners - in large part due to the combination of impressive sales for their well-received new set Hardwired.

It should come as no surprise that Bowie didn't make a cent from touring in 2016, for obvious and tremendously sad reasons.
