First Look at 'A Wrinkle in Time'

Disney just released the first-look photos for the upcoming Ava Duvernay (Selma) directed film adaptation starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling (AKA the holy trifecta).

The film's release is still almost a year away ― it's slated to hit theaters in March 2018 ― but on Wednesday, fans finally got a first glimpse of this new take on the intergalactic adventure. The story centers on a young girl, Meg, and follows her on a dimension-hopping adventure to find her father, a scientist who works for the government who has mysteriously gone missing.

DuVernay culled 14-year-old Reid from a large number of hopefuls the nation over to play high schooler hero Meg, who ventures to every part of the universe with her more youthful sibling, Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), and opens her internal warrior en route. Who (Mindy Kaling), the young Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), and the powerful and wise Mrs.

Kaling will be working alongside Witherspoon, an Academy Award victor, and the "Queen of all Media" aka Oprah Winfrey. Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey will dazzle as Mrs.

In an interview with EW, DuVernay said she was looking for "a black Mrs., a white Mrs., and a Mrs. that was not either", making sure they were different body types and ages, in order to better portray the wide gamut of femininity. DuVernay said. "Could we bring in culture, bring in history in their costumes?" Not only is Kaling smart and witty, but is also amusing as well. "It was so lucky that she was a fan of the book and wanted to come play with me". Which, DuVernay said there was no question it would be Winfrey.

She also Tweeted something that's very much of interest: the first trailer will arrive this Saturday.

DuVernay previously shared some behind the scenes photos from the film's set (including some location shots from New Zealand), but this morning, Entertainment Weekly dropped some shiny new official photos for us to examine. But in this, because of the things that Mrs.
