HTC Ocean Life Details Leaked, Snapdragon 660 and 5.2-inch 1080p Display

A new rumor has begun circulating claiming that HTC will soon be releasing a new mid-range smartphone. Well, at least according to LlabTooFeR, who shared the news on Twitter. The "Ocean Life" codename gives good indication that this is indeed what HTC has in mind since the U11 is codenamed "Ocean".

The U Play is a midranger and as it appears, it will be joined by another midranger sooner or later. While it does have the latest power-efficient Snapdragon 660 processor, the middling 2,600 mAh battery might not exactly make that advantage felt. Info on RAM size and storage wasn't shared by the leaker.

Ocean Life is also said to feature Android 7.1.1 out of the box with HTC's Sense 9 interface on top. In the camera segment, the HTC U11 houses 12MP UltraPixel rear-facing camera and 16MP front camera.

What's most interesting about today's leak is that this mid-ranger will also come with HTC's Edge Sense technology, which was first introduced for the HTC U11. A simple squeeze will allow users to interact with the side panel that allows you to initiate actions like take photos, open Facebook, or launch any of your favourite apps. Since the HTC U11 was codenamed "Ocean" before it launched, the "Ocean Life" would seem to follow that same path.

In terms of hardware, this HTC Ocean Life isn't going to wow anyway. Whether this phone adopts the same glossy design as the U11 is still unknown, but, all things considering, that's pretty much expected.

It looks like HTC is working on a new mid-range smartphone now known as the Ocean Life.
