Human cases of West Nile Virus confirmed in Nebraska

Colorado has one reported case of the virus in Jefferson County, but there are none yet in Weld County compared to the 27 humans infected previous year, the news release said.

"In an abundance of caution, we are working with the DeKalb County Board of Health and redoubling our efforts to minimize any exposure to the West Nile virus in Brookhaven", City Manager Christian Sigman said in a news release.

Despite this, there has only been one reported case of a person contracting the disease this year, in Jefferson County.

Very few people actually get ill from this infection, around eighty percent of people who become infected by west Nile, don't even know they've been affected due to the minimal to obsolete symptoms.

Citizens with any concerns with the aerial application can take precautions by remaining indoors during treatment with windows closed and air conditioners turned off.
