Mehbooba Mufti to meet Rajnath Singh in Delhi

Her comments come against the backdrop of the Centre repeatedly ruling out any talks with groups such as the Hurriyat Conference, saying its priority is to improve Kashmir's situation.

Levelling the first major accusation against China of intervening in the Kashmir dispute, J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said Beijing has "now started to interfere" in the affairs of the Valley.

She also backed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has been bitterly opposed by the Centre because it runs though Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Chief Minister saluted the wisdom of the people of the country who did not fall prey to the conspiracy of the perpetrators of the act to induce communal clashes in the country. The two discussed the security situation in Kashmir.

Mufti's meeting with the home minister in the national capital in the wake of the attack on Amarnath pilgrims on July 10, in which seven persons died, lasted for nearly an hour after it commenced at 11.30am.

Following the attack on pilgrims, security agencies have intensified anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Her statement comes in the wake of the recent terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims and India's ongoing standoff with China in Sikkim regarding border issue. In August 2000, 30 pilgrims were killed during an encounter between security forces and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists.

The opposition has slammed the government for failing to ensure security of Amarnath Yatris.

The attack led to strong reactions from across the country.

Though tough questions were raised, the parties wanted the government should seize the opportunity where even the Hurriyat leaders have condemned the attack on pilgrims.

Mufti on Saturday expressed her gratitude to Rajnath Singh and to the people of the nation for extending their support at the time of crisis in the Valley.
