The Tamil Nadu government today chose to go against Madras High Court for rejecting the state's order of proving 85% reservation in Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) to the students from the TN state board.

The government order was criticised by the Court while hearing the petition filed by the parent of a minor who has passed out of a CBSE school and is attempting to gain entry into a medical college. The Supreme Court has objected this decision and stated that the reservation of 15% for other boards and 85% for state board is not possible.

As per schedule notified by DME for Tamilnadu NEET 2017 counselling, the MBBS rank list 2017 is set to be published today on 14th July, while the counselling will commence from 17th July.
