PDP Grants "General Amnesty" To Sheriff, Cairo, Others

PDP Grants

The Chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, stated this in an interview with reporters in Abuja on Thursday.

It said while it would overlook the sins committed by those set of people, it nevertheless warned that anyone who participates in fresh plot against the former ruling party would not be forgiven.

Ali Modu Sheriff was validly elected and was forced to vacate the National Secretariat after a joint meeting of the contending camps with the Inspector General of Police in the wake of thuggery attacks in the heat of conflicting court pronouncements.

In a show of good faith, Sheriff has released a statement through spokesperson of the party's National Caretaker Committee, Dayo Adeyeye, saying that the court judgement should serve as a fresh start for the party and not another reason to stay divided.

But reacting to the purported tweets from Sheriff, acting national publicity secretary of the Sheriff-led PDP, Hon Bernard Mikko said, "Our attention has been drawn to a fake congratulatory message credited to an imaginary Twitter handle of Sen (Dr) Ali Modu Sheriff, the immediate past PDP National Chairman".

Makarfi, who described the last 14 months as very worrisome for the party, however, said there was no need punishing those who made the party to experience the setback.

During his career at OSU, Flowers has tallied 200 tackles and led the team past year with seven pass break-ups. Besides playing football on both sides of the line, he was a punter and a kicker, too.

He called on the party to reconcile with its members while also urging other parties to settle their internal problems with dialogue.

Lana in his address told members that with the court's judgment of Wednesday, the PDP's rebirth had commenced in earnest, assuring that the days of the ruling party in the state were numbered as PDP would take over Agodi government house by 2019.

According to Makarfi, the party will throw its doors open to all members that opposed his leadership and worked against the collective interest of the party.

"Our hands are extended to all those on the other side; we will grant general amnesty to everybody; we have declared no victor, no vanquished". It is when you begin to commit fresh sins or causing fresh troubles that we will then look at it.

Therefore he appealed to those who had cases in court to withdraw such cases. "You can see that everybody is happy because of the outcome of the case". We will provide the alternative platform.

"Moving forward, we must embrace true reconciliation, so as to be united as a formidable option to send the APC packing in 2019".
