The First Tomb Raider Movie Trailer Looks Epic

The latest instalment of Tomb Raider tells the story of Croft's origins.

The film's first poster was revealed yesterday, in advance of today's trailer.

The first trailer for the movie-which was leaked on Wu's Instagram and quickly made its way around the web before the official Warner Bros. release-has Croft thrust into adventuring to take over her father's quest.

After winning an Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander did what everyone in Hollywood does: She signed on to star as an ass-kicking badass in a studio franchise film. You may remember the franchise had a few films starring Angelina Jolie, but that was years ago.

The movie will closely follow the 2013 prequel-of-sorts video game, and the adventurous footage above displays that. "She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits, but we've stripped away all of her experience", said Vikander in July, as more photos from the movie were released. He is presumed dead, although there was no trace of his whereabouts. "This film is about her becoming the action hero that we know her to be". Nonetheless, fans can see plenty of action shots and the new Tomb Raider herself in action. The movie is out in March 2018.

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Instead of taking over his global business empire, 21-year-old #LaraCroft leaves her life behind to embark on a daring investigation into what befell her father. A mythical island awaits, as Lara ventures into the unknown to solve the puzzle of her father's mysterious death. She travels to a tomb in Yamatai, an island off the coast of Japan, which was the last-known destination of her dad.

"Her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous".
